SMC hydraulic presses are mainly used to manufacture high-strength titanium/aluminum alloy forgings in the fields of aviation, aerospace, nuclear power, petrochemical, and other fields. At the same time, it is also used in automotive lightweight (fenders, panels, trunks, interior parts, etc.) and home improvement building materials bathroom industry (wall, bathtub, floor, etc.).
Below we will introduce the issues that need to be considered when choosing an SMC hydraulic press.
1. Equipment tonnage
When selecting the compression molding process of composite products, the tonnage of the SMC press can be selected according to the minimum unit pressure of the product. For eccentric products or products with a large depth dimension that the molding material needs to flow laterally, the tonnage of the press can be calculated according to the unit pressure of up to 21-28MPa on the projected area of the product.
2. Press opening
The press opening (opening distance) refers to the middle distance from the highest point of the movable beam of the press back to the working table. For the composite material compression molding machine, the opening selection is generally 2-3 times larger than the mold height.
3. Press stroke
The press stroke refers to the maximum distance that the movable beam of the press can move. For the stroke selection of the SMC molding press, if the mold height is 500mm and the press opening is 1250mm, then the stroke of our equipment should not be less than 800mm.
4. Press table size
For small tonnage presses or small products, the selection of the press table can refer to the size of the mold. At the same time, the left and right tables of the press are 300mm larger than the mold size, and the front and rear directions are larger than 200mm.
If a large-tonnage press or a large product is produced and requires the assistance of multiple people to remove the product, then the additional size of the press table for personnel entering and leaving should be considered.
5. Precision of press table
When the maximum tonnage of the press is uniformly applied to the area of 2/3 of the table, and the movable beam and the press table are supported on the four-corner support, the parallelism is 0.025mm/m.
6. Stress grows
When the pressure increases from zero to the maximum tonnage, the time required is generally controlled within 6s.
7. Press speed
Generally, the press is divided into three speeds: the fast speed is generally 80-150mm/s, the slow speed is generally 5-20mm/s, and the return stroke is 60-100mm/s.
The operating speed of the press directly affects the output of the product. In order to increase the output of products and reduce the number of defective products, it is necessary to choose a faster SMC hydraulic press.
